Jamshedpur, Feb. 22: Indian Women Network (IWN) works towards enabling women to become better professionals and achievers in their respective fields through various need-based services for its members. IWN’s activities and initiatives are executed through its 3 task forces namely Learning & Development, Policy & Advocacy and Health & Wellbeing.
CII IWN Jharkhand has been actively working for an all-inclusive approach to create gender parity for women in Indian Industry and civil society. The aim of the IWN Jharkhand is to work for strengthening women’s role and participation in economic development and community affairs.
As part of an awareness and support campaign about Menstrual Health and Hygiene, CII IWN Jharkhand under its Health and Wellbeing vertical being Convened by Dr Shraddha Sarangi, General Practitioner and Co-Convened by Chitra Singh, Pranic Healer, GMCKS Lightworkers proposed to implement incinerator in Government Schools of Jamshedpur.
IWN Jharkhand has installed sanitary napkin vending machine with incinerator at Sardar Madho Singh Middle School, South Park and Jugsalai Girls High school on 31 Oct 2018 supported by Tata Pigments.
Taking this further, IWN Jharkhand installed an incinerator on 22 February 2019 at Jamshedpur High School in Jamshedpur.
V Natarajan, Assistant General Manager (Corporate Services & Compliance) cum Company Secretary, Tata Pigments inaugurated the event and during his address, he mentioned it is very important for a flourishing country to ensure there is no gender discrimination. Women are as empowered as men and an important way to achieve it is through providing them proper education facility. Tata Pigments is strongly committed to all the processes which lead to Women Empowerment. With the help of Sanitary Napkin Vending & Dispenser machine installation in Government schools, the girl students would be able to attend their school without any mental agony which comes as part of the biological process. At the same time, we would be able to promote gender equality and empowerment for the girls ensuring their sanitation and hygiene.
Ujwala Asundi Kumar, Chairwoman, IWN Jharkhand & Head- CSR, Refco Metals & Powders P Ltd explained the importance and use of an incinerator, which will ensure the solid waste disposal, will be minimal and also will allow girls to dispose of used napkins without any embarrassment.
The generous sponsorship by Tata Pigments, The CSR team of Tata Pigments V Natarajan, Assistant General Manager (Corporate Sevices & Compliance) cum Company Secretary, Rajesh James, Chief-HRO and Navneet Kaur Bhatia, Dy Company Secretary helped IWN Jharkhand to install the incinerator.
The session was well attended by the School Principal, Students, faculties along with CII IWN Jharkhand members with a motive to inculcate good menstrual hygiene habits among the students of the school.
