Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has stated the Government is available to go to the Labour Court so that it will remedy the dispute over health support workforce pay.
Speaking to RTÉ News, Mr Varadkar said: “The Government wants to resolve this strike, and we have presented a listening to at the Labour Court to attempt to do so. That’s how a lot of disputes were determined in the past.
“I’d trouble an invitation and appeal to the unions worried in this strike to come back to the Labour Court to sort this out.”
Mr Varadkar stated that the Public Sector Pay Agreement clearly states that if a union breaches it, consequences may be imposed, but “this is virtually not what the Government desires to do.”
Earlier, Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe also urged both sides of the dispute to go back to the Labour Court.
Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, he said that the fitness help body of workers is due to increase in subsequent years, which they’ll get underneath the cutting-edge salary settlement.
