The African Development Bank has hosted a group of professionals to discuss how the era can be deployed to transform meal structures in West Africa.
The Bank co-hosted the workshop with the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the African Green Revolution Alliance, the World Economic Forum, and Rabobank for the Food Systems Action Platform (FSAP) for West Africa at its headquarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on June 20- 21.
More than 70 representatives from multilateral businesses attended the two-day session, along with delegates from food groups, African governments, including Togo and Ghana, studies institutes, commodity exchanges, processor and producer groups, and economic establishments.
“Africa is lagging in terms of food price chains. Never within the history of the world has there been more technology, extra knowledge, and other gear at our fingertips,” said Jennifer Blanke, Vice President for Agriculture, Human and Social Development. “How can we all get together to use it to make a difference?”
The FSAP and partners’ workshop agenda focused on the connection between weather resilience and nutrients and the way to combine those elements into food price chains, including rice, cassava, end result, and greens, in West Africa. The event introduced the FSAP companion corporations to create a collective base of fee chain tasks and discover existing turnkey initiatives and innovative answers to achieve the platform’s goals.
“The stakeholders got here together to see what they can do as a crew and what actions we need to prioritize in terms of bringing the meals structures method ahead,” stated Bank Director for Agricultural Finance and Rural Development Atsuko Toda, who coordinated the workshop.
Workshop participants determined actions to prioritize, including preparing enterprise cases and codifying reviews that can be shared at future meetings, such as the African Green Revolution Forum, the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, or the Bank’s Africa Investment Forum. Attendees additionally agreed to set up a leadership work circulate that attracts knowledge from authorities, businesses, and other African establishments.
