Apart from this, Delhi Police have also stepped up its patrolling to ensure that no untoward incident occurs on the day of the festival, especially with women.
To ensure women’s safety this year, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik has ordered all 15 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) to deploy more women police.
Amulya Patnaik has also directed them to invoke CrPC Section 144 to hinder motorcyclists with wrong intentions from riding with balloons and colors.
“All DCPs have first been asked to make a list of schools, colleges, and institutional areas and prepare a strategy on deploying police personnel in these places on rotation. Patnaik also said to deploy more women police personnel in plainclothes,” a senior police officer, as quoted by a media report.
